Flu scare close to over but MOH still alert

The Ministry of Health has revised the Influenza A (H1N1) flu alert status from Yellow to Green amidst decline in the flu’s global activity.

In Singapore the alert level was first raised to Yellow on 28 April 2009, followed by Orange two days after and brought down to Yellow in May of last year. According to a Ministry of Health statement, some areas continue to have evidence of active but declining transmission, including East Asia.

More than 420,000 Singapore residents have acquired immunity from the Influenza A (H1N1) infection through vaccination since the onset of the pandemic, with the vaccine being available since November. MOH still encourages the public to ask about vaccination even with the Influenza A (H1N1) virus remaining to be mild.
